Hold on... wtf's a zine?

A zine (in this instance) is a handmade, independently produced, badly photocopied publication.

We want ours to be full of stories art and ideas!

Try making your writing sound more like a story than an article because it's not a magazine or newspaper we're making here and also be aware that sometimes we may not be able to fit everything we want into a single issue. Certain things might not work so well together so there is no absolute guarantee that your stuff will just go in the very next issue straight away, but it's very likely and we'll do our best!

Also, if you think you can write music (on paper), that might be kind of awesome.

A long time comin'

So it's been almost a year since the last post, but now that Year 12 is over, it's about time we got this show back on the road.

The zine fair table is booked, the word is out, the Facebook event is made.

More news as it comes to hand.

Well, the zines got a close up...

Hey look at that. We're [kind of] in a video that we didn't make ourselves! I did spot Mr. Marcus Westbury, artsy curator and creator of Not Quite Art, strolling around the Zine Fair with his handy dandy video camera, and I did hear him mention his blog while we were there. So low and behold! Here is said video and our zine does get a nice close up even if we don't. Enjoy!

Brought 10 copies of Issue No.3 into Sticky yesterday.
Also bought a bunch of zines from there to show people at school in order to kick off the school zine... Hope it works.

Goods Posted

I just walked to the postbox to mail a package of 10 zines to Three Stories Artspace, a gallery in Healesville.

After a few emails back and forth, they finally purchased $30 worth of zines and as far as I can tell, they'll be sold in the gallery's shop.

I also just emailed Bird In The Hand to see if they have recieved our zines yet.

Sellouts

Sticky just emailed me to say that we have finally sold all of the 10 copies of Issue No.2 that we put on their online mail order service.
That means that people bought 10 of our zine off the net and paid extra for postage and all... That's pretty impressive if you ask me.

Sean says:

Well I did it. Finally. I made it onto the cover of a fistful of buttons. This is amazing. No words can properly begin to describe the feeling I'm feeling right now. You know that Andy Warhol saying that everyone gets 15 minutes of fame? Well this has got to be at least 27 minutes.
I feel like I should be hiding my face when I go out in public, for fear of being mobbed. There are a lot of people who would kill to get a look at this face. I should know, I've seen it first-hand.
I know a guy who knew a guy who got a letter published in the paper. I think he said some negative things about an article or something. I dunno. Point is, some guy stopped him in the street and was like "HEY! Aren't you that guy who wrote that letter in the paper?". Long story short, some stuff went down and he ended up naked and in the gutter.
I don't want that happening to me! Maybe I'll just hire a bodyguard. I'll have the money to afford one what with all the offers for big parts in movies I should be expecting to get soon. I should get a publicist too! And a makeup guy and... what else do all those famous people have? It doesn't matter, I'll let my assistant figure that out.
Maybe I could score some hot Fistful of Buttons groupies! Who I could meet at the sweet Fistful afterparties. I must email Carl about these parties immediately. Nothing shall get in the way of me and my fame.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be in my trailer.
